Holocaust, occupation and Nazism

The research conducted by the Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies into the Holocaust and Nazi ideology seeks primarily to reveal the thought processes, rhetoric and symbolic configurations that legitimised its genocidal practices. Two of our ongoing research projects examine the role of the police force during the occupation of Norway and the liquidation of Jewish assets during the war.

The Norwegian Holocaust Center's research into fascism is part of a broad-based comparative project that is studying fascist movements and regimes in the Nordic region. We and our Nordic colleagues are currently studying continuity and change in fascist theory and practice in the Nordic countries over the past 100 years.

The Norwegian Holocaust Center's comparative research on wartime occupation seeks to reveal commonalities and differences between the various occupation regimes established by Nazi Germany, with the aim of placing the Norwegian experience in a broader European context.
