Research into the situation for Muslims living in Norway today has largely targeted immigrants and focused on the degree of integration. This project focused primarily on the experiences of people self-identifying as Muslims. It aimed to examine the experiences and attitudes of a broadly composed group ofrespondents, and employed a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The project looked at how different andblended identities are linked with lived discrimination (intersectionality).
The project was conducted in 2022 as a partnership between the Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies and the KUN Centre for Equality and Diversity(www.kun.no), with the Norwegian Holocaust Center as project manager. The work was led by Vibeke Moe.The project was linked to the Handlingsplan mot diskriminering av og hat mot muslimer, [Action Plan to Combat Discrimination and Hatred towards Muslims] and was commissioned by the Norwegian Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi).
