Meet at the Museum

The aim of this seminar is to enhance discussions between Norwegian and Polish teachers about the value and possible pitfalls of using museums and memorial sites when introducing students to our societies` dark heritage.

  • How can the school system and museums cooperate to train students' alertness to antidemocratic attitudes and politics?

  • How do we create spaces for students to reflect upon and talk about topics such as racism and antisemitism – both as a part of our histories and as tendencies in our societies today?

  • How can alternative arenas for learning, such as museums, help students develop a better understanding of how racism and antisemitism have been and are threats to a democratic public culture.

In the different workshops teachers and educators from Poland and Norway will have the chance to share their own experiences – both within and outside of the classroom. This will be an opportunity to discuss the challenges we face encountering students` questions, interests, views and misconceptions.
