Ellinor Meiran lived in Oslo with her father (her mother had deceased). When Ellinor was five years old, she was arrested along with her father, grandparents, and uncle. They were all murdered in the gas chamber at Auschwitz.

The Meiran family was one of the 230 Jewish families from Norway destroyed during the war.
